Haemoglobin
Haemoglobin-4,500,00-5,000,000 red cell circulate in human blood and each one of them is packed with ,300 million molecules of Hemoglobin .Hemoglobin give the red blood cells their oxygen carrying capacity which is their most important function in blood .(Oxygen is essential for the growth and performance of the cells and organs of the human organism )The Hemoglobin molecule itself consists of two major parts (i)the globin and (ii) the haem
(i) The globin is a protein bearing sulpur
(ii)The haem part contains iron -a metal that is essential for the growth and normal functioning of the cell. Iron has the capacity to easily bind and lose oxygen ,providing the haemoglobin molecule the capacity to carry and distribuit easily oxygen to tissues and organs of the body .Adults have about 4gm of iron in theri body ,75% of which is used to synthesize the haemoglobin molecules of red cell. The level of haemoglobin found in a routine laboratory blood examination will (HB normal 11.0 gm/dl to 17.0 gm/dl ), therefore, reflect the level of the level of the individuals' iron.
The reason of the low haemogloben may be any of the flowing
Iron deficiency anemia, hepatitis, Nephrosis and bleeding, Lead poisoning, pregnancy, thalassamia, folate deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency, Vitamin C deficiency, Worms, Vitamin B6 deficiency.
The major cause of low haemoglobin is iron deficiency.
The low hamoglobin person is usually treated with iron supplements such as Ferrous salts, folate ( folic acid ),vitamin b12,vitamin c. are advised,
The natural way to increase haemoglobin
The natural way to increase haemoglobin is food and diet. Good sources of iron are-An apple, Whole wheat, brown rice, green leafy vegetable (Spinach, Broccoli. Cabbage,Fenugreek, Lettuce), Beet, Cherries, Tomatoes, Dates,Figs. Consumption of iron alone will not help. The low hemoglobin diet must also comprise of adequate protein. Milk and its products, egg, organ meat and soy are the best sources. Source of vitamin B12,Vitamin B6, Folic acid are meat ,liver, fish , eggs, milk ,and chees. Source of vitamin C are fresh fruit, orange, lemon, tomato, pineapple, papaya
Vitamin B12 and vitamin C helps in production of haemogloben.
Iron occurs in food as Haem and non haem iron. Haem iron found in animal source, The human body could easily absorb haem iron .
Non heam iron present in plant.
In many areas iron may be derived from cooking in iron vessels.
person who is under treatment should avoid foods like Coffee , Tea ,Alcohol ,Tobacco that prevent iron absorption.
